At Positive Psychology Inc, we support gender diverse people (including but not limited to trans, nonbinary, genderqueer, gender nonconforming, gender neutral, ambigender, gander variant, neutrois identities) to feel comfortable and joyful with their authentic selves. If your journey includes medical transition (HRT, reconstructive surgeries) or gender marker and name change and requires a letter, please let us know. We will make every effort to provide one quickly. We hope one day the letters are unnecessary, and until then, we will do what we can to make this process smooth and simple. It would be our honor to assist you.
We will write such letters in one session. We routinely provide certain numbers of letters for free, at the very minimum one free letter per month but typically one free letter per week. If you are in network with the insurance we take, you can use your insurance and it will leave room for someone else. If you have PPO then we are happy to issue superbill so you get reimbursed from your insurance company. If you are in network with us but has a high deductible or co-insurance, please let us know. We can work with you. If you have financial means and want to leave room for those who don't, you have an option of donating (but only up to $100, much discounted from our regular fee). Please contact us. Letter writing service would never be denied due to your ability to pay. We will make it work.
We are able to provide letters for those who speak Spanish, Japanese, Mandarin, and English at this time. We hope to expand our linguistic abilities so we can provide more support.

Resources
The LGBTQ+ committee was very honored to have the opportunity to learn from Dr. Em Matsuno (they/them), Kiona Daelyn (she/they), and Matthew Marriatori (he/him) about how to support trans and nonbinary people of color and about the added complexity that comes from intersectionality. To find experts who are able and willing to share their own lived experience with the rest of us is a truly rare and special opportunity.
Dr. Matsuno opened the presentation with a land acknowledgment. Following this important recognition, they explained their own privileges with a display of cultural humility. They explained concepts, history, research, and ways they’ve tapped into their own resilience. Their presentation was not only academically robust (and included their own published research) it also included personal stories that only people with lived experience could share.
Kiona Daelyn was next and also began by making a land acknowledgment. Kiona then expanded on Dr. Matsuno’s presentation by sharing some added nuance, as well as personal stories, and advised ways to become more culturally competent. They also spoke of common types of therapist mishaps, which provided an important opportunity for enhancing therapy practices.
Matthew followed Kiona and concluded the section by sharing his own personal therapy experiences (some that were very harmful) along with his personal wish to become a psychologist for trans and nonbinary people.
For those who missed it, we were granted permission to record the didactic section of the presentation. Dr. Matsuno also shared their PowerPoint slide presentation and additional resources including books and websites they recommend, along with their own published articles.
No matter where you are along the path of this never-ending journey, we assure you that you will learn something from this presentation. You and your clientele are connected with trans and nonbinary people of color in both your immediate and extended communities in some capacity (example, family, friends, children, coworkers, students, teachers, and others). Your competency and understanding are critical to not only being an ethical and clinically competent psychologist, but also to being a needed ally in society and the world. We hope you will take this special opportunity to learn and to unlearn.
In solidarity,
