About Dr. Kyunghae Kum (she/her)
Staff Psychologist/ Clinical Translator
Dr. Kum is a licensed clinical psychologist (PSY31424) with over 15 years of clinical experience. Dr. Kum began to realize her growing interest in helping professions at a young age. Through her volunteer work at a local nursing home, she experientially learned the healing power of "talking" and human interactions. She majored in clinical psychology and received her bachelor's degree from the Health Science University of Hokkaido. She continued her education at Bukkyo University and received her master's degree in Education, with an emphasis on clinical psychology. After she earned her Japanese license as a clinical psychologist, she pursued her doctorate degree from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University in San Diego.
Dr. Kum specializes in treating adults and older adults with traumatic stress as well as other chronic mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. She has keen interests and extensive training in multicultural and diversity issues. She has worked with refugees, immigrants, and families of immigrants who struggle with severe and chronic mental health issues in clinic and in-home settings.
Dr. Kum offers therapy in Japanese and English.
Dr. Kum also translates clinical documents, such as consent forms, diagnosis forms, and clinical notes, from English to Japanese, which requires deep understanding of both languages and cultural meanings as well as professional knowledge of clinical and ethical practice in the field of psychology. Her translation services include reading original documents in English, translating them into Japanese, and editing translated versions, with special consideration of the cultures of the original language and of the target language as well as clinical, legal, and ethical responsibilities of psychologists.
琴 慶恵
12年以上の臨床経験を持つカリフォルニア州認定臨床心理士（資格番号 PSY31424）。幼いころから人助けができる職業に興味を持ち、地元の老人ホームでのボランティア活動を通じて「話すこと」や人との関わりが持つ癒しの力を体験的に学ぶ。北海道医療大学と佛教大学にて臨床心理学を専攻し、社会福祉学学士号、教育学修士号を取得。その後、渡米しアライアント国際大学にて臨床心理学博士号を取得。日本臨床心理士会認定臨床心理士（資格番号 17536）でもある。
トラウマによるストレスを抱える個人の援助を専門とし、また、うつや不安などの慢性的な問題に対するカウンセリングも提供している。多文化性やダイバーシティといった課題に特に深い関心と経験があり、重度で慢性的な精神疾患を抱える移民、難民とその家族を精神科クリニックや訪問カウンセリングで支援した経験を持つ。
