At Positive Psychology Inc, we celebrate body diversity and honor differences and changes in body size, shape, appearance, and function. We believe in accepting and respecting our own bodies as they are right now instead of advocating the idea that we need to diet or achieve a certain size or shape in order to find contentment with how we are.
We believe in joyful movements with tasty foods. When we were children, we moved and ate for pleasure, not for a possible secondary gain (such as attempting to achieve a certain weight). We honor the body’s wisdom and signs of hunger, appetite, and satiety and promote intuitive eating. We trust our bodies.
We challenge cultural and other assumptions and pressures emanating from a promoted diet culture. We critically examine scientific evidence. We value body wisdom and knowledge and listen to lived experiences of people. We examine our internalized fatphobia as well as thinness privilege, whenever appropriate. We aim to dismantle thinness normativity and diet culture and promote body acceptance.
We believe we can achieve health at every size.
